Duties: |
• Manages workflow activities relating to charge processing functions
• Oversees Jr. Charge Processor
• Serves as client support (coding questions) to assigned clients
• Works necessary reports associated with denials
• Works on “Hold “ report
• Works on missing information report
• Maintains spreadsheet pertaining to charge processing
• Reviews pre-entry data
• Reviews all stop patients and takes necessary steps for missing charges, duplicate charges, etc
• Submits pre-entry data to Jr. Charge Processor for processing
• Coordinates and works closely with the Compliance Officer and Team Leader – Charge Processor
• Evaluates and recommends programs, procedures for improved operations, modifications to and/or implementations of new procedures. Manages charge processing operation to assign clients, ensuring that established standards are met and are in compliance with governmental and regulatory agencies
• Identifies and resolves problems in charge processing functions and when appropriate initiates changes to prevent future problems.
• Works with Jr. Charge Processor to insure that proper coding protocols are being used
• Jr. Charge Processor back-up
• Documents and maintains audit records and logs; prepares reports
• Provides professional expertise for specific coding issues
• Other projects as assigned

Qualifications: |
Knowledge of CPT codes, HCPCS codes, ICD9 coding and CMS 1500 forms. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work with large volumes. Understands medical terminology and finance business office functions. Knowledge of PCs. Must be familiar with proficient in MS Office.
High School graduate/GED or equivalent learning experience with further formal education in coding/medical record principles required. Previous billing experience, preferably physician. Coding certification, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, CPC, RCC, ROCC or RHIA required. Active membership of AAPC or AHIMA. |
