Duties: |
Conducts routine audits for accuracy of coding and physical presence of physicians involved with professional/technical/freestanding fee billing
Conducts pre-audit on all patients for accuracy of coding and submits weekly status report to Management Team and Compliance Officer
Coordinates meetings with clinical department representatives
Documents and maintains audit records and logs
Provides professional expertise for specific coding issues
Serves as client support ( onsite and via phone from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm according to AMAC schedule) for front office personnel/physicians addressing such concerns as data integrity, answering inquiries, addressing special circumstances, and assisting the front office personnel/physicians with any of his/her needs
Meets with Sr AR Specialist prior to going onsite to address any issues they have and gather needed information
Assists with training of new AMAC employees (radiation oncology billing and coding)
Conducts weekly training sessions on coding and CCI edits
Assists with coordinating work flow within the department to ensure that deadlines are met
Serves as client support for consulting division
Presents the audit findings to the client in accordance with AMAC policies and procedures
Obtains the clients signature on the audit report for all changes to reported charges

Qualifications: |
| Associates degree in Healthcare or related field, with bachelors degree preferred; supplemented with one (5) year related work experience, two (2) years of medical auditing required. Accredited Record Technician/Certified Procedure Coder certification required Certified coding specialist/physician or hospital-based required. Coding certification, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, CPC, RCC, ROCC or RHIA preferred. Active membership of AAPC or AHIMA. |
