Description: | Join the Valley Radiologists interventional radiology practice as a nurse practitioner. Under the general supervision of the Practice Administrator and Director of Interventional Radiology, the nurse practitioner provides clinical expertise to clients of the Practice, and acts as a resource person for other healthcare providers as needed.
Shift: Variable, part time or full time. Attendance at occasional after-hours meetings may be required. Call rotation may be required in future.

Provide and coordinate the care of patients who have had/will have interventional radiology procedures.
This is to include, but is not limited to:
- Provides pre-procedural history, examination, evaluation, and documentation. Orders appropriate laboratory and imaging tests.
- Provides post-procedural follow-up care including daily inpatient rounds, tube checks and removals, line placement checks, documentation, and orders appropriate follow up tests as indicated.
- Provides initial consult, evaluation, and coordination of care for some radiology procedures to include uterine artery embolization, vertebroplasty, and kyphoplasty.
- Performs minor interventional procedures, once proficient, to include PICC line placement, lumbar puncture, thracentesis, paracentesis, arthrogram injections, feeding tube placements and assist with amniocentesis.
- Perform sedation management at imaging centers.
- Perform some pain management procedures including trigger point injections.
- Participate and assist in coordination and management of outpatient interventional radiology clinic to include vascular center, Cardiac CTA referrals and patient follow up care, and Breast Center procedure follow up care.
- Conduct post-procedural phone interviews with outpatients, scheduling follow up care and collecting feedback and satisfaction data.
- Assist willingly in quality improvement initiatives.
Performs customer service and acts as a liaison with referring providers, and works closely with the marketing team. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Developing product and service line educational material for patients and referring physicians in concert with the interventional radiologists and marketing director.
- Round on inpatient cases daily, and network with hospitalists, residents and unit nursing personnel to build clinical relationships and promote Interventional Radiology procedures.
- Making routine customer service visits to referring physicians to promote and develop the interventional services.
Coordinate and manage operational aspects of providing clinic services to patients of the interventional radiology department, working closely with hospital department managers of ATU and Radiology to resolve barriers to effective service delivery.
Participates in professional development activities, maintaining professional affiliations, and attends conferences and workshops as part of continuing education.
Attends required meetings and Professional Development Committee meetings, and participates in committees when requested. Helps to coordinate and lead the Interventional Services Committee meeting.
Demonstrates awareness of and conforms to HIPAA compliance standards, Medicare compliance standards, and maintains patient confidentiality.
The nurse practitioner must be:
- Knowledgeable of professional nursing theory and methods for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Skilled in the application and modification of the principles, methods, and techniques used to provide quality on-going patient care.
- Familiar with the medical equipment and instruments utilized to administer quality and effective patient care.
- Knowledgeable of common safety hazards, radiology safety hazards, and precautions taken to establish a safe working environment
- Familiar with, or will become upon hiring, the terminology, procedures, expected outcomes, potential complications (including warning signs for and acute treatment of) for interventional radiology.
- Skilled in identifying problems, and researching and recommending possible solutions.
- Skilled in the preparation and maintenance of health records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Able to maintain quality control standards.· Able to react calmly and effectively in emergent situations.
- Able to interpret, adapt, and apply clinical practice guidelines.
- Able to communicate clearly in the English language, in oral and written forms. | Qualifications: | - Graduate of an accredited NP program.
- Current RN and ARNP licensure in the State of Washington, and national certification by the AANP or ANCC.
- One year of professional experienced preferred, though will consider new graduate with radiology interest.
- Current BLS and ACLS provider certifications.
- Current DEA number, or eligible to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
Applicants must be physically able to perform tasks relating to the position, including moving/lifting patients, standing, walking, and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds in weight as necessary. Must have perfect vision (or corrected to) and hearing within normal limits. Working conditions may be stressful and may also include possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, body fluids, and other conditions common to a hospital environment. |
